Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant in the manufacturing sector, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the financial accuracy and compliance of the company’s accounting practices. Your responsibilities will revolve around managing financial records, analyzing data, and providing essential support to the financial team. You’ll collaborate closely with various departments to streamline processes and maintain precise financial reporting within the manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze manufacturing costs and variances, providing insights into cost-saving opportunities, production efficiencies, and budgeting processes.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accounting, monitor inventory levels, reconcile discrepancies, and assess inventory valuation.
  • Month-End Close: Execute month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing valuable financial insights to aid decision-making processes.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the accounting function and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis to support management decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost-benefit evaluations, and financial performance reviews.
  • Vendor and Payables Management: Manage vendor relationships, oversee accounts payable processes, and ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Contribute to special projects or initiatives, providing financial expertise and support as required by the organization.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience in accounting within the manufacturing sector is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
